The 15th Aram Khachaturian International Competition Kicked Off
The Aram Khachaturian Music Competition starts on June 6 - on Aram Khachaturian's birthday for 15 years already. It is held this year for pianists, with thirty musicians from twelve countries.

The solemn opening ceremony took place at Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall. The Armenian State Symphonic Orchestra, "Khachatryan Trio" and pianist Hayk Melikyan performed.

Earlier, Anna-Ter Hovakimyan, Executive Director of Aram Khachaturian-Competition Cultural Foundation, told journalists that this initiative has a unique place in the world and represents our country with honor: “This year marks the 15th anniversary of the contest. The laureates of the competition, the reference to international media and our membership to the World Federation of International Music Competitions prove that Khachaturian’s Competition has its unique place in international competitions”.

According to the Head of the Jury pianist and conductor Vahagn Papyan the jury is composed of Professor of the Moscow Conservatory Mikhail Voskresensky, Belarusian folk artist Igor Olovnikov, well-known Israeli pianist Tommy Lew, President of the China Pianist Association Wai Chan, honored conductor Ilya Stupel, pianist, professor Sergey Edelman.

The contest will be held till June 14. Both in previous and this year, the competition will be held in three stages. The first and second rounds will take place on June 7-10 at the Secondary Music School after Tchaikovsky, and the third round will take place on June 12 and 13 at the Aram Khachatryan Concert Hall. The names of the winners will be announced on June 14.

A photo contest is being held within the framework of the 15th Aram Khachaturian International Competition. The participants should submit their photos on 6-11 of June on the subject of the 15th Anniversary International Competition named after Khachatryan. The best photos will be exhibited at Aram Khachatryan Concert Hall; winners will receive certificates.
